The system is used for control of heating and lighting in buildings such as hotels and student accomodation
Centrally, a PC-based controller maintains a database of heating and lighting schedules. It communicates to remote load-controllers by mains borne signalling or by separate RS485 serial connection.
The remote load-controllers monitor local conditions (e.g. temperature) and switch the load in response. They also have local controls to allow temporary cahnge of setting
The status of the remote units is monitored by the central controller to track power usage and faults
