This application
was for very low cost motor control in large volume (>2 million PA)
consumer durables. There were three main aspects:
- Very low cost of manufacture, but with high reliability in service
- Energy efficiency
- Safety
In
the research phase, a wide range of motors were characterised and
varius control algorithms tested. After operating methods had been
proven, two products were designed and tested. During development and
proving phases, we worked closely both with the control manufacturer
and the appliance manufacturer to ensure all technical and commercial
factors were optimised.
